DCI disclosed that Cherop was a 44-year-old Senior Accountant Assistant at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital billing section in Eldoret.

The mother of four was reported missing on June 23, 2024, and her dismembered body parts were subsequently discovered at multiple locations across Nandi and Uasin Gishu counties on June 24 and June 27, 2024.

The DCI reported that Rael Cherop Biwott was last seen leaving her workplace on June 22, 2024, around 7 p.m., accompanied by her husband, Francis Mwangi Ndirangu.

“The mother of four was reported missing by her husband 24 hours after she left her workplace on June 22nd at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital, where she was working as a Senior Accountant Assistant in the billing section,” DCI said in a statement on their official social media places.

Despite Ndirangu’s initial statement claiming that they took a matatu home, CCTV footage revealed that they had departed in a Toyota Succeed, a vehicle hired by Ndirangu. Tragically, Cherop never made it home.

On June 24, around noon, some of Cherop’s dismembered body parts were found stashed in a gunny bag beside a road in Kapsilegaa village, Nandi County.

Later that day, more parts of her body, including her head and upper limbs, were discovered beside a road in Lamaiywet village, Uasin Gishu County.

Despite these gruesome finds, it was not until 6:40 p.m. that Ndirangu reported his wife missing at Eldoret Police Station.

The investigation intensified on June 27, when the remaining parts of Biwott’s body, including her legs and internal organs, were discovered in a clear polythene bag beside a road in Mutwot village, Nandi County.

An autopsy conducted in the presence of family members and legal representatives revealed that Biwott had suffered severe neck injuries and blunt force trauma to the head.

DCI officers have since uncovered inconsistencies in Ndirangu’s account. His statement that Biwott went missing after they shared breakfast on June 23 was contradicted by their children and a co-accused individual.

These contradictions, along with the circumstantial evidence gathered, led to the arrest of Ndirangu and a suspected accomplice.

Both have been arraigned in court, with custodial orders granted to allow detectives to complete their investigation.

“The DCI Homicide Directorate has taken over investigations into the gruesome murder of 44-year-old Rael Cherop Biwott, whose dismembered body parts were found dumped at various places across Nandi and Uasin Gishu counties on 24th and 27th June 2024,” stated the DCI in an official release.

The case will be mentioned at the Eldoret court on July 11, 2024, as detectives work tirelessly to bring justice for Rael Cherop Biwott and her family…CONTINUE READING>>
