Scheduled to create approximately 6,000 direct jobs, the new facility will serve as a pivotal industrial hub, significantly addressing the county’s high unemployment rates.

The announcement marks a significant step for the region, which has long struggled with economic challenges despite its potential.

Local leaders, including Taita Taveta Governor Andrew Mwadime and Devki Group Chairman Narendra Raval, are committed to ensuring the project’s benefits are equitably distributed among the community, the county government, and the national government.

During the land handover ceremony on August 3, 2024, Raval emphasized support for local miners and artisans, highlighting the factory’s role in providing much-needed employment, particularly for the younger population.

“Employment will reduce the time for protests and contribute to national stability,” Raval said.

Governor Mwadime expressed his administration’s dedication to promoting mineral value addition and urged MPs to draft protective legislation for the investor.
