Oba Mufutau Gbadamosi Esuwoye II (Olofa of Ofa).

Although, this town was founded by a Yoruba man from Oyo, there are still beliefs that the town belongs to the Northern region of Nigeria. This is not really surprising because when you visit the Kwara state, you will see many Fulani settlements as you see Yoruba settlements. So, you could probably say Offa belongs to these two categories of people who have chosen to live in harmony despite the differences in their tribes and religions.

Why it is a taboo to worship idol in Offa.

Although, there are other traditional practices in Offa, Kwara state, most of these practices do not involve the worship of idols. According to what the present Olofa of Offa, Oba Mufutau Gbadamosi Esuwoye II said during his Interview with Punch, he said that the people of Offa are largely Christians or Muslims, and these two religions have become the core foundation of religious practices ever since Offa was founded.

If Christians and Muslims form the majority of the Offa Kingdom, then we are aware that both in the Bible and in the Quran, it is a sin to worship an idol. The Olofa of Offa said that he only celebrates Christmas and other Islamic celebrations with his people, even though he happens to be a Muslim follower.

The King categorically mentioned that the worship of idols in Offa is a taboo, although he failed to outline the consequences, but as we all know, there are no taboos without consequences.
