2. Smoked and processed meat

Smoked and processed meats contain preservatives like sodium nitrite and sodium nitrate, which can damage your blood vessels and increase your risk of stroke. Nitrates can also be changed into nitrosamines, which have also been linked to a variety of cancers.

Among the smoked and processed meats are salami, hot dogs, and bacon. You would completely cut out processed and smoked meats from your diet in an ideal world. If this isn’t feasible, make sure to limit their intake and that your meat is marked as being 100% beef, grass-fed, organic, and nitrate-free.

3. Processed foods
