Eight games into the new season, some deductions can be made about Xavi’s Barcelona.
First, Xavi will mostly set up his team in a 4-3-3 formation.
Second, there are seven players who the gaffer never thinks of leaving on the bench.
Xavi’s untouchable six:
Ter Stegen. The German goalie has played every minute of every Barca game this season.
Pedri. The midfielder has started seven of Barca’s 8 games so far. He’s played all 8.
Ousmane Dembele. The winger is Barca’s most creative player and simply cannot be dropped.
Robert Lewandowski. The Polish striker is scoring goals for Barca like he’s been the missing piece of the jigsaw all along.
Ronald Araujo. The Uruguayan defender is simply a roadblock for opposition attackers.
Jules Kounde. The Frenchman can play at right-back better than Araujo. He’s also great at centre-back. Kounde’s versatility makes him such a huge asset for Xavi’s team. Unfortunately, he just picked up an injury.
