Wachira directed employers to ensure all employees have registered for SHIF, saying that monies remitted after November 9, 2024, will be credited to the Social Health Authority (SHA).

He noted that the last date for NHIF  admission is September 30, 2024. “The last date for admission under NHIF is September 30, 2024 and SHA benefits will begin on October 1, 2024.

“Payments received on or before October 9, 2024, will be credited to NHIF, while those received from November 9, 2024, onwards will be credited to SHA,” said Wachira.

Local media reported that Kenyans will not access benefits under NHIF after the September 30 deadline. This sparked debate among Kenyans, with some raising concerns over court orders blocking the implementation

@Melmaxxx asked:

“I thought we had matters pending on this issue. How are they just moving like this?”

@TheLegalMwaki noted:

“Be advised in Aura v Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Health & 11 others a 3 bench Judge suspended the SHI Act and SHA Authority. Parliament directed to conduct public participation within 120 days which is yet to be done. The directive is illegal, null and void.”

@KimathiNjebi wondered:

“Will ignoring court decision not bring confusion with implementation and claims.”

@KaraniaPratik claimed:

“We tried registering but site not going through and NHIF Westlands told us that they are not registering because there is a court order. Who do we follow? Can you get an update on it?”

@MrMikee2020 argued:

“This is illegal.”

@NiFavorTu asked:

“NHIF is now defunct, so what happens to those deductions?”

@BravinYuri claimed:

“Social Health Authority (SHA) ceased to operate after the High Court declared the SHIF Act 2023 Unconstitutional and Suspended.”
