In a comment to Russian journalist Pavel Zarubin, who published the video on his Telegram channel, the head of Russian diplomacy stated that “[John] Kirby [White House National Security Council Coordinator for Strategic Communications] said that one must be very careful in strengthening support for Ukraine to avoid provoking a third world war because Europe would suffer.”

Continuing, Lavrov indicated that “thus, they [the Americans] have a genetically ingrained belief that no one will touch them. This destroys all the principles that served as the basis for Soviet-American agreements on strategic stability, which were later reaffirmed and developed with Russia.” “They are beginning to lose this sense of mutual deterrence. It’s dangerous,” Sergey Lavrov stated.

In this context, he called for consideration of Russia’s red lines in the Ukrainian conflict. “They [the United States] must understand that they should not joke with our red lines. And they know very well where they are,” he noted, referring to potential missile deliveries for F-16 fighters.

He observed that the Americans had already “crossed the threshold they had set for themselves” regarding arms deliveries to Kyiv, but expressed hope that there were still reasonable policymakers in the United States and that “the interests of the United States would be taken into account,” reports TASS.

Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasized that the delivery of new weapons to Ukraine, including F-16s, would not change the situation on the front and would only prolong the conflict.
