Speaking during an interview with Spice FM, the Senator revealed he harboured aspirations to move from the current position of Secretary General to Deputy Party Leader but had to cast aside those ambitions in the interim.

According to the Senator, positions in the party are the soul of the political outfit which means that his ascension to the strategic position would require a lot of shakeups and tinkering. He therefore made the decision to let others hold the positions.

“Increasingly, I’m hearing a lot of discussions about heart, I don’t know why or if it’s a coincidence because I had aspired to move up from my position as SG of the party to deputy party leader’s position which, in my view, is a promotion.”

“But I was given this story about heart, that there are some positions that are at the heart of the party, that you cannot vacate to seek others and so on”, the senator said.

Sifuna also addressed speculation that persons within the party were seeking his ouster. He dismissed the reports as pure propaganda.

The Senator also addressed reports of cracks within Azimio over ODM’s decision to join the government. He claimed that Azimio stands a better chance in future if all its members stood united.

The Nairobi Senator further claimed that ODM remains an opposition party despite a section of its members securing plum positions in the government.

“ODM remains an opposition party. We are a member of the Minority Party in the National Assembly and the Senate, and we will continue to execute our role in that capacity,” he said.

Sifuna has assured that the Raila-led party would still execute its role by holding the government to account.

His sentiments came hours before Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua said he would not bend backwards to accommodate the ODM leaders who recently joined the government….CLICK HERE FOR MORE ARTICLE>>>
