This decision follows a backlash from Kenyan protesters who accused the Cabinet of incompetence and corruption scandals, prompting calls for an immediate overhaul.

In his address at State House, Ruto assured the public that the only offices not affected by the changes would be those of the Deputy President and the CS for, Musalia Mudavadi.

The president assured that government programs and services would continue as usual despite the dissolution.

“I have, in line with the powers given to me by Article 152(1) and 152(5)(b) of the Constitution and Section 12 of the Office of the Attorney-General Act, decided to dismiss with immediate effect all the Cabinet Secretaries and the Attorney-General from the Cabinet of the Republic of Kenya except the Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs,” said Ruto.

Ruto asserted that he would immediately begin extensive consultations across various sectors and political formations to establish a broad-based government that is lean, inexpensive, effective and efficient.
