Speaking during a Presidential Town Hall held in Mombasa County, Ruto revealed that he had made the changes to facilitate job creation for the youth abroad.
He also added that he made these changes on Sunday morning during a meeting with Labour Principal Secretary Shadrack Mwadime.
“In fact I was today with my Principal Secretary for Labour, Shadrack Mwadime. I have changed the management of NEA so that we can tap into opportunities to work outside Kenya,” he added.
However, he did not disclose if the new management had already started working on the government’s ambitious agenda.
Further, he stated that the country was working on nineteen bilateral agreements where the country would export labour.
Additionally, Ruto stated that his government had managed to create more than 400,000 jobs which were available on the National Employment Authority’s board’s website.
While speaking on the government’s job creation plan for the youth, Ruto added that 160,000 people were working in the housing industry due to the enacting of the housing levy.
Ruto further stated that he pushed to have the law enacting the housing levy having learned from successes achieved in Singapore.
Ruto added that so far, Kenya was unable to meet the demand for 2,500 nurses who were needed in Saudi Arabia under the labour export programme.
Earlier on in the day while addressing Taita Taveta residents in Mwatate, the president noted that the government had managed to get more than 120,000 youths earning from Technical Vocational Education Institutions (TVETs).
