Sabrié will be succeeding Jean-Christian Bergeron who will be returning to Paris, France, to undertake a new assignment, the company announced on Tuesday.

He has served in the position since 2019 when Rubis entered East Africa with key acquisitions of KenolKobil Plc and Gulf Energy Holdings Ltd.

Bergeron has been instrumental in establishing the firm’s presence in Kenya and the region, where it is among the top three Oil Marketing Companies.

He led key initiatives to solidify Rubis’ position, including rebranding fuel stations across Kenya and East Africa, launch of Ultratech fuel technology, Rubis gas, and introduction of value-added offerings such as the Rubis App, Rubis Card, Enjoy shops, Castrol lubricants, among others.

“I am grateful for the support from our dedicated team, our loyal customers, and our partners. Together, we have created a foundation for continued success and I am confident that Olivier will elevate Rubis Energy in East Africa to great heights,” he said.

With over 30 years in the oil marketing sector, Sabrié on the other hand brings a wealth of experience to Rubis Energy Kenya having most recently served as chairman and managing director, and vice president for South Asia, at Total Energies Marketing India Private Ltd.

His career with Total Energies began in Mozambique and included leadership roles in various African countries, as well as in France, Pakistan, and India.

“I look forward to building on Mr. Bergeron’s legacy and driving Rubis Energy Kenya’s mission to further enhance the journeys our customers take every day,” Sabrié said, terming Kenya and East Africa dynamic markets with immense potential for growth and development.

Rubis Energy Kenya has nearly 300 fuel stations nationwide with a market share of 14.05 per cent at at December, closely chasing TotalEnergies which had a 14.88 per cent share, and Vivo with 22.07 per cent .
