Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has issued a new directive to members of the Raila-led Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party who joined the government.

Speaking on Thursday, September 5, Gachagua told ODM part members to support what he says going forward as they are now working with the government.

“That is what being in the government entails. Isn’t that how it’s supposed to be?” the deputy president asked.

He also expressed satisfaction that the party has members in the government, as it aids in uniting the country’s people.

“You’re now part of the government…you can no longer complain of marginalisation. You are part and parcel of the government,” he added.

He also welcomed them into the government, asserting that they should now work together to advance the country.

Earlier, Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) secretary-general Edwin Sifuna announced that the five officials nominated to President William Ruto’s Cabinet submitted their resignation letters.

In a press briefing on Wednesday, July 31, Sifuna announced he had received resignation letters from John Mbadi, the national chairperson of ODM, and Opiyo Wandayi, the secretary for political affairs.

Former governors Wycliffe Oparanya and Hassan Ali Joho, who served as deputy party leaders, and Beatrice Askul Moe, a party elections committee member, also submitted their resignations.

Sifuna implied that their departure from the party demonstrates ODM’s continued affiliation with Azimio and its lack of connection to the Kenya Kwanza government.

He further reiterated that there was no agreement between the ODM party and Kenya Kwanza.

Sifuna stated that ODM remains part of the Azimio coalition and will continue its opposition role with other parties to advocate for accountability and transparency in governance and public affairs….CLICK HERE FOR MORE ARTICLE>>>
