Lawan said this when he received a greeting card from the Senate Press Team on Tuesday in Abuja.
He said that the people of Yobe North should recognize their victory in the election.
“You will recall that when the crisis about running for the senate seat for Yobe-north began, the matter went to court.
“At the Federal Supreme Court in Damaturu, another person was tried.” The very next morning, I issued a statement signed by myself stating that I accept the ruling of the Federal Supreme Court in Damaturu, giving up my seat in the Senate to someone else, and that I will not appeal the decision. I mean it, and I don’t doubt what I’m doing.
“I am completely convinced of what I am doing.” “But the people of Yobe North stood up and united,” he said.
The lawyer added:
“They say that the Senate seat for Yobe North is not my personal business.” It is theirs. So while they respect my opinion and my right to say something I’ve said before, they want to appeal the verdict.
“The state party, APC, my party, has passed the test.”
“The governor of Yobe also accepted the challenge, and the party at the national level, the seat of the APC, also accepted the challenge, and the party appealed.” Of course, they lost at the Court of Appeals.
“And in the Supreme Court, the ruling was in our favor.” We thank Almighty God for giving us judgment because God has a plan for all of us, and there is a popular saying that “man proposes, God determines.”
“Although I was ready not to run again because of my decision, God didn’t see it that way.” “God looks into the hearts of the most ordinary people I represent.”
Lawan said everyone, including the elderly and women, fasted alone because of him.
“In fact, I joined the fast when I saw young people in the area start to fast.” They fasted for three or four days just to pray to God that we get a judgment. and we got it.
“In more than 20 years as a member of the National Assembly, and with it seven elections in a row, I have never seen a display of love like this.
“And that is why I will bring this greeting card to Gashua to show my constituents,” he said.
