They accuse some individuals close to President William Ruto of trying to control Mt Kenya politics by reducing the budget allocated to Gachagua’s office. This reduction, they claim, is intended to limit Gachagua’s ability to travel across the country and connect with the people.

Gachagua’s supporters argue that the Budget and Appropriations Committee, led by Ndindi Nyoro, is planning to cut the Deputy President’s budget by 25%. This cut would make it difficult for Gachagua to carry out his duties and engage with his supporters. They believe that these actions are part of a larger scheme to undermine Gachagua and make him less effective as a leader in the Mt Kenya region.

Kirinyaga Senator Kamau Murango has expressed concerns over this alleged plot. He stated that there is clear evidence of efforts to weaken Gachagua by diverting funds from projects crucial to the Mt Kenya region.

According to Murango, funds that were initially meant for the Mwea irrigation plan and coffee revitalization programs have been cut. These programs are important for the agricultural sector in Mt Kenya, and their funding cuts could lead to significant problems for local farmers.

Murango claims that the intention behind these budget cuts is to blame Gachagua for any resulting issues in the agriculture sector. He argues that this strategy is designed to damage Gachagua’s reputation among farmers and the general public. By making it seem like Gachagua is failing to support agricultural projects, his political enemies hope to turn people against him.

The reduction of Sh70 million from the Mwea irrigation plan, which was meant to address snail infestations, is a significant blow to the local farming community. Without this funding, farmers may struggle to manage the infestation, leading to decreased crop yields and economic hardship. Additionally, the omission of funds for coffee revitalization programs further jeopardizes the agricultural stability of the region.

Murango and other Gachagua allies have vowed to fight back against these budget cuts. They warn that this issue could become a major point of conflict between them and the current administration. If the budget cuts go through, they plan to hold the Budget and Appropriations Committee and its chairperson, Ndindi Nyoro, accountable for the consequences.

In their view, these budget cuts are not just about financial resources but are a strategic move to weaken Gachagua politically. By reducing his budget and limiting his ability to support crucial projects in the Mt Kenya region, his opponents aim to diminish his influence and control over local politics.

Gachagua’s supporters are determined to protect his position and ensure that the necessary funds for the Mt Kenya region are not diverted. They argue that the region’s development and agricultural success depend on these funds, and any attempt to cut the budget is an attack on the well-being of the local community…CONTINUE READING>>
