Odinga, on Saturday August 10, made the statement insisting that he still believes in the people of Kenya who are agitating for their right to good leadership and governance.

Odinga, therefore, condemned the police for brutalising innocent young lives of men and women who have been on the streets seeking accountability from their elected leaders.

On that note, the former PM asked Inspector General of Police and other State agencies to expedite release of all arrested protesters countrywide.

“I also urge the immediate release of those who were unjustly detained and a thorough investigation into the misconduct of the officers involved,” he further stated.

He pointed out that excessive force to unarmed lives is not only unacceptable but also a violation of the new Constitution.

Mr. Odinga was making the remarks hours after his political friend Jimi Wanjigi was yesterday raided and his home vandalized by Anti-Terror Police Unit ATPU.

Wanjigi had to hide in his bunker for two days as police turned his Muthaiga home that also houses his family upside down.

Odinga and former running mate Martha Karua both visited the scene at different times where they helped push the police away from the home.

Karua would be heard threatening to file a case against individual police officers for violating human rights of Mr. Wanjigi.
