Sterling joins Arsenal as a multi-time Premier League winner with bags of talent and experience. Speaking on the Handbrake Off Podcast, Adrian Clarke has been discussing Sterling and his role at Arsenal, and he says that he could see the Chelsea loanee playing as a striker for the Gunners at times this season.

Clarke shared his verdict on Sterling and where he could play in this Arsenal team.

“I don’t blame him for his form, last season he got eight goals and four assists in 22 starts, that’s one in three in terms of goals. This is a player who is ready to deliver. He is brilliant backup for Bukayo Saka, and if we do need to put Kai Havertz in midfield, he can do a job as that intelligent, quick, roaming number nine,” Clarke said.

Raheem Sterling has, of course, made his name in the game as a wide player, but he has played as a centre-forward on occasion.

Indeed, according to Transfermarkt, Sterling has played as a striker 62 times during his career, and his record is very decent to say the least.

In those 62 games, Sterling has scored 25 goals, picking up 10 assists as well. That’s a goal contribution every other game. Sterling will, of course, mostly play on the wings for Arsenal to provide cover for Bukayo Saka, but with Mikel Merino injured and Declan Rice suspended, Kai Havertz may be needed in the midfield soon, and that could lead to Sterling playing up front for the Gunners.

It will certainly be interesting to see what role Sterling plays after joining Arsenal on loan for the season….CLICK HERE TO READ MORE ARTICLE>>>
