Chelsea are set to be one of the busiest clubs in the summer transfer window as Todd Boehly looks to make up for lost time following his consortium’s takeover of the club.
The Blues were left unable to talk transfers with Roman Abramovich placed under Government sanctions, with the club subsequently having to operate under a special licence. But with those restrictions lifted they can start to improve Thomas Tuchel’s side ahead of the new season. A number of big names have been linked with moves to Chelsea but none bigger than Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Manchester United ace was reportedly one topic discussed when Boehly held a meeting with super-agent Jorge Mendes this week but he may not have been the only name brought up. With that in mind, football.london looks at the other clients that may have been mentioned in the transfer meeting.
Joao Felix
Chelsea have previously been linked with the Atletico Madrid marksman and he is once again being touted for a transfer this summer. The La Liga side have reportedly told Felix he is free to leave this summer if an acceptable offer comes in and a move to the Premier League is a possibility.
Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham have all been linked with moves for the 22-year-old but with Chelsea in need of a new leading man, Boehly may have been eager to explore the possibility for themselves. Romelu Lukaku is set to leave this summer so why wouldn’t they be interested in Felix too?
Rafael Leao
Another striker catching in the eye is AC Milan’s Leao. The 22-year-old scored 14 goals and provided 11 assists to help Milan to their first Serie A title in years last term and is capable of playing both outside and through the middle.
Reports linked Chelsea with a move for Leao at the start of the transfer window and it is unlikely that interest has faded. The Italian giants, however, are trying to tie him to a new contract so if he was discussed with Mendes, it would be interesting to hear what insight was offered.
Adama Traore
Traore made the move to Barcelona on loan from Wolves during the January transfer window with a view to a permanent deal but it is looking increasingly unlikely that he remains at the Camp Nou. Leeds have recently been linked with a move for the pacey powerhouse but could he have been a topic of conversation this week?
Chelsea have previously been linked with a move for Traore and with Hakim Ziyech and Christian Pulisic likely to depart this summer, new wingers are on the transfer agenda.
Rayan Ait-Nouri
A new left-back is also on the cards, with Marcos Alonso potentially departing, leaving no cover for Ben Chilwell. Ait-Nouri has been linked with a move away from Molineux and Chelsea are one team to be linked with him.
Manchester City have also expressed an interest in signing the defender but with Wolves reportedly asking for £45 million for the 21-year-old, it is a saga that could rumble on for a while yet.
