In his speech, President Ruto acknowledged the challenges Kenya has faced, attributing some of the difficulties to past communication gaps and insufficient public engagement regarding the government’s development agenda.
He admitted that these issues have led to missed opportunities in involving citizens in the nation’s transformation.
The President reflected on the need for public officials to adhere to the highest standards of integrity and to embody the principles laid out in Kenya’s Constitution.
“Our role as public officers is to serve the people of Kenya with the utmost commitment and integrity,” Ruto said. “The Constitution demands that our actions and conduct reflect the highest standards of servant leadership.”
Highlighting the hard work and resilience of Kenyans, Ruto stressed that citizens only seek a government that supports their efforts and provides a conducive environment for success.
He noted that the public’s expectations are high, with a call for transparency, efficiency, and inclusivity in all governmental actions.
“To meet these expectations, we will take unprecedented steps to accelerate our national economic transformation agenda,” Ruto declared. “This will be achieved through unwavering integrity, efficiency, and a commitment to inclusivity.”
The swearing-in ceremony marked the official start for 19 newly appointed Cabinet Secretaries, who are expected to drive forward the President’s vision for Kenya’s growth. The new appointees include Kithure Kindiki, Soipan Tuya, John Mbadi, Justin Muturi, Aden Duale, Alice Wahome, Julius Ogamba, Davis Chirchir, Rebecca Miano, Hassan Joho, Alfred Mutua, Eric Muuga, Salim Mvurya, Debra Barasa, Kipchumba Murkomen, Opiyo Wandayi, Margaret Ndung’u, Wycliffe Oparanya, and Dr. Andrew Karanja.
President Ruto assured the new Cabinet members of his full support, pledging to lead by example in the stewardship of public resources and accountability.
“The privilege to serve in these high-responsibility positions comes with a duty to ensure that Kenyans receive the best possible services from the government, efficiently and without delay,” he concluded.
