Manyora emphasized that despite his previous attempts to reach out through various channels, his concerns had not been addressed, compelling him to write this open letter.

Manyora’s letter highlights a significant trust deficit between the President and the Kenyan populace, particularly among the younger generation, which he referred to as the “Gen Z revolution.”

He pointed out that despite the President’s numerous addresses and promises, including the rejection of the finance bill and other economic measures, the citizens remain skeptical and disillusioned.

“Your Excellency, there is a problem. If you followed keenly the interactions on X, in the spaces you attended or were to host or were a participant, you would have realized, if you hadn’t known so, there is a problem,” Manyora stated.

He urged the President to revisit his recent interactions with prominent journalists Linus Kaikai, Joe Ageyo, and Eric Latiff, where a common theme of distrust emerged.

The letter conveyed a sense of urgency, urging President Ruto to appreciate the magnitude of the problem and to avoid clever tactics that may further alienate the public.

“This Gen Z thing, if you may call it so, is a revolution. It is beckoning us, inviting us to know that times have changed and that we should begin doing things in a different way,” Manyora wrote.

He criticized the government’s current approach to addressing the nation’s issues, particularly the financial and administrative measures that have failed to inspire confidence.

Manyora called for a more straightforward and honest approach, suggesting that the President should dissolve his cabinet to restore faith and demonstrate genuine commitment to change.

Manyora concluded his letter by emphasizing the importance of restoring hope among Kenyans, stating, “What you need to do and you’ll not be the first person to do it is to restore confidence among your people.
