The officers, drawn from Ruaka Police Station, arrested the individuals while leaving an apartment in the town where they had intended to hit.

The gang escaped upon noticing that the owner of the house had gotten wind of their plans to rob.

“Hawk-eyed officers responded to an alert from the would-be victim where they intercepted the thugs’ getaway Matatu,” read the statement in part.

All the suspects were aged between 22 years old and 27 years old.

The officers recovered two toy pistols, six pocket phones, and house-breaking implements among other items.

The scenes were processed and documented by DCI CSI personnel whereas the suspects have been placed in custody pending arraignment.

Two months ago, detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations arrested six individuals, including four police officers, after stealing Ksh2.2 million.

They allegedly followed the accountant of a private school in Nairobi from a bank in Utawala on Monday, June 3, broke into his car, and disappeared with Ksh2.2 million.

“The six, three of whom are a police sergeant, a corporal, and a constable from Kasarani Police Station, a police constable from Ruai police station and two civilians were arrested at the Kasarani Police Station public parking yard, by a combined team of sleuths from DCI Nairobi region and Kayole sub-county,” DCI said in a statement.
