Although the crowd that welcomed him will be the subject of discussion for a while, what has caught the attention of many is what governor Okowa said during the gathering.
In a post released by the vice presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, he said he told those who were gathered at the event that; “the PDP under the leadership of our presidential flagbearer, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar is coming back to rescue and unite Nigeria”.
This recent disclosure by governor Ifeanyi Okowa is coming on the heels of a statement made by former Nigerian President, Olusegun Obasanjo that he made an honest mistake picking Atiku Abubakar as his running mate in 1999. Meanwhile, it’s not the first time the former military Head of state would be making derogatory statements regarding Atiku Abubakar.
Recall that during the build-up to the 2019 presidential election, Obasanjo said God will not forgive him if he supports Atiku Abubakar for the presidency. Nevertheless, governor Okowa is optimistic that with Atiku Abubakar, Nigeria will be free of the numerous challenges bedeviling it.
