Former Bomet Governor Isaac Rutto has been given seven days to clear a debt of Sh5 million or face prosecution. According to Kalwa, Rutto, who is the current vice chairperson of the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) was supplied with the cattle in 2022 which he later sold to a leading producer of fresh and processed meat at a profit.
“It was an express term of the said agreement that each head would be valued at Sh100,000 thus making a total cumulative figure of Sh5 million. It was an express term of the said contract that you were to make payment on delivery and or not later than 30 days thereof,” read the letter addressed to the former governor.
On several occasions, Rutto is said to have sought Sankok’s indulgence to pay him as soon as he settles in his new appointment as a commissioner representing the public in the JSC.
“However, in flagrant breach of the said promise and the terms of the said contract, you have failed, refused and/ neglected to make the payment and or any thereof thus putting our client into great financial difficulties,” Kalwa further wrote in the letter.
According to the advocate, Rutto is bound by the principles enumerated under Article 10 of the constitution which requires that he must exercise honesty, integrity, accountability and social justice not only in the execution of his public duties but also in his private and social life…CONTINUE READING>>
