Mwindu also encouraged teenage mothers eager to continue their education to take advantage of nearby day schools and promised to include them in her scholarship programme.

“I am here to support any motivated and deserving student who wants to pursue their studies. I also urge parents to enroll their children in schools they can comfortably afford instead of taking them to expensive institutions where they struggle to pay fees, ” said Mwindu.

Speaking at Mwimbi Ward while distributing scholarship funds to students facing financial constraints, the MP also appealed to the Ministry of Education to evaluate the new university funding model which discriminates against the poor students.

She called for a review of the new university funding model, which she believes unfairly categorizes students, potentially leading to high dropout rates.

“It’s disheartening to see students placed in Band 5 while their parents belong to Band 1, making it nearly impossible for families to support their education,” she remarked.
