Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu while addressing this year’s State Service of Carols and Nine Lessons in Akure assured on the sustenance of good governance despite the precarious socio-economic challenges occasioned by the COVID-19 pandemic.

the President of Gospel Musicians Association of Nigeria, Evangelist Funmi Aragbaiye led the gathering in the praise and worship session as various choral groups across the state and the Government House Chapel Choir rendered songs to commemorate the season.

In his remarks, Governor Akeredolu who led his deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa and other members of the state executive council to the event, expressed gratitude to God for his mercies and protection over the state.

He commended the spirit of religious tolerance in the state, adding that religion has been used as an instrument of unity and development rather than for division and violence.

The governor urged civil servants to reflect on the reality of the moment saying they should avoid reckless spending even as he promised that his administration will continue to cater for their welfare at all times.

He emphasized that his administration is fully committed to the protection of lives and property while commending Amotekun Corp and other security agencies for their support thus far.

Arakunrin Akeredolu enjoined the people to desist from large gatherings and make concerted effort towards reducing the rate of infection of Covid 19 by taking their vaccine and booster jab.

Earlier the State CAN Chairman, Reverend John Oladapo appreciated the Governor for his administration’s commitment to peace and security of the citizenry, even as he prayed God to continue to assist the governor to do more.

He noted that only God can put an end to all the challenges facing the country and admonished the people to depend on Him to give them victory in all circumstances.

Highlights of the event were prayers for the state, the governor, his family, the people of the State, as well as cutting of Christmas cake, and presentation of certificates and gifts to participating Choir groups.

The colourful event was graced by members of the State Assembly led by Speaker, Bamidele Oleyelogun; judicial officers led by the Chief Judge of the State, Justice Williams Akintoroye; Top government officials, religious leaders, traditional rulers, heads of security agencies, chairmen of local governments, invited choir groups among other dignitaries.
