An officer attached to the Kamiti Maximum Prison, Jackson Kuria alias Shakur has stated that he harbours no regrets over his participation in the anti-government protests that culminated in him being fired from the government job.....CLICK HERE TO READ THE FULL ARTICLE>>>

Speaking to journalists on Saturday, the cop stated that he was dismissed unfairly from his role after images of him protesting in his official uniform circulated widely.

According to Shakur, his dismissal was unfair, citing a duplication of the offence he was stated to have committed.

“I was unfairly interdicted because I was charged twice, They did not disclose it but I was charged twice with with the same offence,” stated Shakur

According to Shakur his letter of dismissal cited that he broke Prison Rule 124, which states that every prison warden should adhere to the law enforcement agency’s Code of Conduct.

However, despite this citation of the law, Shakur maintained that he did not commit any offence reiterating that his decision to protest while in full uniform was an act of patriotism.

As depicted in images and videos which went viral, Shakur was captured hoisting placards bearing the message that he was protesting on behalf of government workers who were afraid to take to the streets over dismissal fears.

The officer was arrested protesting outside Parliament Buildings while donning a dust-coat stained in red colour an act which he described as fighting for justice for the slain protestors.

“We want justice, not your condolences,” read one of the placards.

Shakur further elaborated that his decision to protest was also an expression of his dissatisfaction with the running of the government, a view which he states he should not be victimised for.

Despite his dismissal, the prison warden will receive half of his salary this month after which he will face a disciplinary committee.
