One such message came from former Kaduna State senator Shehu Sani, who wished Obasanjo a happy birthday and described him as indefatigable. Sani also reminisced about their time together in Kiri Kiri prison in 1995 when Obasanjo was accused of stinginess by fellow inmates.

Recently, Obasanjo made a statement asking President Muhammadu Buhari to intervene in the electoral process in the country and calling for elections to be re-conducted in areas with irregularities. However, his statement was met with criticism from some politicians who deemed it inciteful.

Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, who was born on March 5, 1937, received many congratulations and well wishes from Nigerians on his 86th birthday.
