Nottingham Forest are only six points off a playoff spot, and they have a game in hand on the team in sixth place. They’ll be looking to add to their previous two FA Cup victories, the most recent of which came in the 1958/59 season.

They’ll be up against the tournament’s most successful team, and they’ve encountered them four times in the Cup, winning two and losing two.

Nottingham Forest are aiming to make it to the fourth round for the third year in a row, having done so in the 2003/04 and 2004/05 seasons.

Arsenal are in serious contention for a place in the Champions League this season and are having their best season in many years. Their focus now shifts to the competition, which they have won 14 times, with the most recent victory coming in 2020. They were on a five-match winning streak and were unlucky to lose their last encounter after grabbing the lead against Manchester City.

The Gunners will be confident going into this game because they’ve only been ousted in the third round once in their last 25 games, and that defeat came against Nottingham Forest in the 2017/18 season. Arsenal have won five of their last six games against Forest, with that defeat being the only blemish on their record.

SUMMARY:

It’s unclear what kind of team Nottingham Forest will field among their COVID-19 infested squad, but Arsenal’s young guns should have no trouble stamping their authority on the City Ground.

Cooper’s men have proven a difficult nut to crack on their own turf, but Arsenal just seem to step up a gear in the FA Cup, and I expect them to return to winning ways in style. This game will be won by Arsenal.
