The scarcity of naira has affected some physically challenged beggars in Ogun state, who claimed they no longer receive enough alms from people.

The beggars who usually sit by the road side to beg are now stranded as people claim they can no longer give out money. However the beggars do receive food and other gifts from people.

Musa Ibrahim, one of the physically-challenged beggars in the Ibafo area of Ogun State, said it is now difficult to see someone that would give them fifty naira

He said: “We don’t receive cash like before. When people passed here and we begged them for help, they will say there is no money”.

“Everybody is complaining that the government policy is affecting them. It is affecting us as well. There is no money”.

“We only get little food from people. Nobody is ready to give you beyond N20. Government really needs to do something about this “.

Another beggar Ibrahim Athairu, has also revealed that he is no longer able to take care of his family due to the naira scarcity.
