MUTV Pundit Gives Verdict On Kobbie Mainoo Performance For Manchester United Vs Newcastle

Ruben Amorim is getting a first-hand idea of how big the Manchester United job is and while he’s said all the right things so far, the results are getting out of hand.

Most infuriatingly, Man Utd can hardly claim to be undeserving losers in any of their last four losses, maybe just the Spurs game, as the players have been completely played off the park.

The bad performances have been combined with bits of bad luck here and there, like Bruno Fernandes losing his head vs Wolves, or the players missing clear chances against Newcastle.

Ruben Amorim’s bad luck has now been summed up as the club has received the news they would have wanted a week ago, with it being useless for them now.

The Man Utd “boost” that never arrived
Manchester United were without two key playersfor the visit of Newcastle United- Manuel Ugarte and Bruno Fernandes, both suspended after bookings against Wolves.

It was a cruel twist of fate because had the authorities worked correctly and efficiently, not only could that have been avoided, but the whole dynamic of the Wolves game would have changed.

That is because the hero of that game, Matheus Cunha, should have probably not even been playing due to events that occurred on December 14.

Cunha had got into a tussle with a member of the Ipswich Town backroom staff and it looked like a matter of when, and not if, a heavy punishment would fall on him.

Nearly two weeks after that incident, nothing came of it when United faced Wolves on December 26 but four days after that game, Cunha’s punishment has arrived.

Wolves confirmed that Cunha has been suspended for two games across all competitions and fined €80k for his part in that altercation.
Unfortunately, nobody at Old Trafford is celebrating or is waiting for this verdict with bated breath anymore…

Ruben Amorim grasping at straws
The situation at United is so dire that the Man Utd manager has accepted his team are in a relegation battle.

Coincidentally, Ipswich beat Chelsea on the same day as United lost to Newcastle, which means the gap to the bottom three is just seven points now.

Amorim is grasping for straws, any positive he can hitch his wagon too in a wretched season, and Cunha’s potential suspension for that game could have been one.

Not only did he bamboozle United all game and score directly off a corner, just his presence as an outlet lifted the whole team to up their own game.

United were first-hand witnesses to that phenomenon in the game so Amorim’s bad luck can truly be summed up by the timeline of this decision.

He’ll hopefully have the club in a better place this time next season where there will be no need to rue missed opportunities like this one.
