Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has faced criticism from some leaders for missing an event attended by President William Ruto in his home county. In contrast, Deputy President Gachagua attended a 100-year celebration at Baricho Catholic Parish in Kirinyaga county. Moses Kuria, a senior advisor in the Executive’s Council of Economic Advisers, responded to Gachagua’s absence by suggesting that the position would soon be filled.

“This is the last time this seat will be vacant, I swear,” said Kuria. This response has added to the growing rift in the government and the Mt. Kenya region, sparking mixed reactions among Kenyans, some of whom appear indifferent to the ongoing conflicts.

@gabrieloguda noted:

“Bora usiguze Murima.”

@BernardKavuli commented:

“Impeaching Rigathi Gachagua will be suicidal for William Ruto. You cannot eliminate him. Let him try!”

@HellonMusq said:

“Gachagua is also tired of your boss and doesn’t want to associate himself with your boss’ lies, even on the pulpit.”

@Crazy_mustang7 replied:

“Ako busy anachunga murima akasahau seat.”

@magwaz3 asked:

“Vile ulikua jobless si ulikua unalia hapa kama mtoto. Sahi kiburi imerudi?”

@KarentheNrse observed:

“The rift in Murima is felt. Things are not ok in paradise.”

@Samora_KE observed:

“Two years in and you guys are fighting among yourselves all for selfish reasons. One day we will hold all of you to account. That day is coming. Leave Rigathi Gachagua alone.”

@KultureKenya reacted:

“That’s not our problem. You’re fighting among yourselves not because of us, but because of who is stealing the most. We do not care!”

@mmagiri remarked:

“You swear in vain. Just like you swore, and you ended up without a flag and he still has.”
