The 3000-capacity mosque symbolises the institution’s diversity.
MKU founder Simon Gicharu said the launch is a milestone for MKU, which continues to expand its infrastructure to meet the diverse needs of its growing student population.
“Today, we are not just opening a building; we are opening doors to greater understanding and respect for all faiths. This mosque is a testament to our commitment to embracing diversity and ensuring that every student feels valued and supported, regardless of their religious beliefs,” Gicharu said.
Gicharu said the new space is expected to foster unity and harmony within the university and the nation.
He also addressed concerns surrounding the new government funding model for higher education, saying it has not disrupted the university’s curriculum.
Students and staff expressed gratitude for the new facility, saying it will enhance spiritual lives and contribute to a more inclusive campus environment.
In addition to launching the mosque, Professor Gicharu inaugurated several other key facilities, including professors’ offices, a renovated modern student centre and a stunning water fountain at the main gate.
