Speaking in Meru at a church fundraising ceremony, the former CS welcomed Gachagua praising him for helping him during his tenure as Agriculture Minister and assured him of his loyalty.

In his speech, the former CS vowed to support President William Ruto’s administration despite being dismissed as a cabinet secretary.

“We as people of Meru love the President and we were part of the creation of this government, so we are not going to leave,” he stated. “We fought for this government. We are in there.”

Using an analogy of a second wife, Linturi referred to the opposition’s inclusion in the government highlighting that even if a second wife is brought into the union, she must respect the first wife and her children.

He took some time to explain Article 6 of the constitution under the first schedule which explains that all counties are part of Kenya and have a right to be part of the government.

“The constitutions say all governments are distinct but must work closely and in cooperation. It is to affirm that the Government belongs to us all,” he explained.

The former CS also raised concerns over the Tharaka Nithi road which has claimed the lives of many people in the recent past.

He called on President Ruto to intervene and have the design of the road repaired to avoid losses of more lives.

“It’s very unfortunate we lost 12 lives of people from Meru. We want the Nithi Road issue looked into.”

Linturi took the opportunity to weigh in on the issue of banditry and security. He alleged that Igembe North continues to be a hub for bandits to steal cows and store them. He has called for more police officers to be deployed in the region.
