The Gunners have started the season well having picked up an impressive 2-0 win against Wolves on the opening day of the new Premier League campaign.

Now, Arsenal’s focus has shifted towards Aston Villa and we’re sure Unai Emery would love nothing more than to inflict pain on his former side.

Arteta would want to get one over Emery too, and he may have a special plan in mind now.

Arsenal signed Jurrien Timber from Ajax in the summer of 2023 in a £38 million deal (Sky Sports).

The Dutchman became an instant fan favourites after his performances in pre-season last year, but unfortunately for him, his campaign all but ended just after it began.

Timber suffered a serious knee injury on the opening day of the 2023/24 season.

That ruled him out for several months, with his only other appearance coming in Arsenal’s final game of the campaign against Everton.

Timber is now back, and Arsenal fans are all expecting him to play in either full-back position.

However, in his press conference ahead of the game against Aston Villa, Arteta has claimed that Timber is an option to play in midfield as well. He said, as per Football London: “Yeah he is (an option in midfield). He can play in various positions. His versatility is one of his biggest strengths.

“He played some quality minutes the other day. Having that capacity to find what the squad is needing in that minute is really valued.”

Timber is as versatile as they come.

The former Ajax man has played in both full-back positions for Arsenal, and he was also given opportunities on the right side of central defence during this summer’s pre-season.

Timber has never played in midfield for Arsenal, but he did make two appearances as a number-six for Ajax’s U17s side during his time there. He even scored in one of those games.

At senior level, however, Timber hasn’t yet played in the middle of the park, but he has all the qualities to do the job as a number six for Arsenal.
