He was present to support University of Nairobi students protesting against a new funding model. In the video, the student described the experience as daunting but expressed gratitude to Sonko for sending Lawyer Mark to assist with the case.

Sonko was seen standing behind the student, wearing a white balaclava that covered his head and neck.

The student faced charges for possessing a 20-liter jerrycan of petroleum during the protest. He was scheduled to enter a plea on September 10, 2024.

“The experience was horrible with many threats, but I would like to thank the former Governor of Nairobi for sending Mr. Mark, who is a lawyer, to help me,”he said.
