The women convened in Meru town on Saturday, September 21, to announce their resolve.

They cited Kindiki’s versatility and know-how to drive the agenda of the region to the benefit of the residents.

The women observed that Kindiki had outdone himself in his current roles, making him the best fit for the Mt Kenya kingship post.

“We are endorsing Kithure Kindiki as Mt Kenya kingpin. He has been able to unite the mountain, and therefore, we are saying he is our leader. His work in the Ministry of Interior has endeared him not only to Mt Kenya but all Kenyans,” they said.

The elders drawn from Meru and Tharaka Nithi counties declared their allegiance to Kindiki, stating that he would henceforth be the kingpin of Mt Kenya East.

While endorsing Kindiki, the elders said he has passed the Njuri Ncheke test for leadership.

They urged him to work with Ruto and bring development to the region, as is the case in other parts of the country.

They added that Kindiki’s national stature would help them foster good relations with other regions.

Laikipia East MP Mwangi Kiunjuri clarified that the Nyahururu Declaration focuses on Mt Kenya’s regional development, not on individual political agendas.

He said Kindiki’s role is technical, linking Mt Kenya’s leadership with the president, while Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua continues his political role.

Kiunjuri stressed that the caucus aims to address regional budget priorities, keeping politics separate from development discussions.

He also highlighted the need for Mt Kenya’s leadership to prepare for possible constitutional changes, especially in light of Raila Odinga’s influence in government…CLICK HERE FOR MORE ARTICLE>>>
