Rashford, 25, was a standout for England at the World Cup in Qatar, scoring three goals to help the Three Lions advance to the quarterfinals.

Rashford’s goal-scoring prowess hasn’t been the only thing garnering attention in recent weeks; the Old Trafford faithful have also been talking about his new goal celebration.

Rashford points to his head after scoring a goal for Manchester United, but why exactly? Here is an explanation of his new celebration.

How should we interpret Marcus Rashford’s celebration?

Rashford disclosed in October that he had experienced mental health issues the previous season.

It has been speculated that the celebration, during which he raises his palm to his temple and occasionally shuts his eyes, may be a reference to his recent battles and the more tranquil state of mind he is currently experiencing.

It’s a completely different energy around the club and the training facility, Rashford said earlier in the season in an interview with Sky Sports.

“That improves my mental state, and I now feel incredibly motivated.” That’s where I was having trouble.

I occasionally struggled with more mental issues. Actually, it wasn’t my performance so much as other factors off the field. The biggest change from last season is that.

“I understand that it is your responsibility to comment on what occurs on the field, but for the players, we have to enter the proper frame of mind for each game.”
