Jadon Sancho did not make England’s squad for the World Cup and he’s currently training in the Netherlands ahead of the resumption of the domestic season in December.
Sancho is training in the Netherlands
Manchester United’s Jadon Sancho is working with Dutch coaches in the Netherlands on the advice of Erik ten Hag in order to keep fit and refocus during the World Cup break.
Sancho started the season encouragingly for United but his form has dropped off in recent weeks leading him to missing out on a place in England’s World Cup squad.
The winger has contributed just two goals and one assist in the Premier League this season and has not started for United in over a month.
The Manchester Evening News understands Sancho is currently training in the Netherlands with coaches recommended by Ten Hag to refocus ahead of the resumption of the domestic season in December.
Sources have indicated Sancho is working hard to improve his form and taking advice from Ten Hag. Sancho has been pictured training at Dutch amateur club OJC Rosmalen this week, doing close-control ball work around mannequins.
Speaking about Sancho’s omission from Gareth Southgate’s World Cup squad earlier this month, Ten Hag said: “He Sancho has had some really good performances earlier in the season and was going in a good direction.
But the last weeks he struggled with illness. Then it’s normal that you don’t get the nomination for the World Cup. Every manager will take only fit players to the World Cup.”
Sancho’s illness coupled with the unavailability of Cristiano Ronaldo and Antony in the lead-up to the World Cup left United short on options in attack and Argentine teenager Alejandro Garnacho was the main benefiter, scoring winning goals against Real Sociedad and Fulham.
The MEN understands United could bring forward plans to sign a new forward to January to offset Ronaldo’s departure after his contract was terminated on Tuesday.
