Manchester United could sign a new striker in January to replace Cristiano Ronaldo, claims the reliable Fabrizio Romano....CONTINUE READING

The 37-year-old’s future at Old Trafford is now in extreme doubt after his explosive interview with Piers Morgan, and Romano thinks that could force Erik ten Hag to bring his plans to add another No.9 to his squad forward.

What is the latest news involving Ronaldo?

Ronaldo recently told Morgan on TalkTV (via The Sun) that he does not respect Ten Hag and also launched a scathing attack on his predecessor Ralf Rangnick.

“I don’t have respect for him because he doesn’t show respect for me,” the Portuguese forward said when talking about the current United manager. “If you don’t have respect for me, I’m never gonna have respect for you.”

On Rangnick, Ronaldo said: “If you’re not even a coach, how are you going to be the boss of Manchester United? I’d never even heard of him.”

After such comments, it is hard to see how Ronaldo can play under Ten Hag again.

What has Romano said about United?

Romano has told GIVEMESPORT that United’s initial plan was to sign a new striker in the summer of 2023 but that may have changed after Ronaldo’s interview.

When asked if the Manchester club could now decide to sign a centre-forward in January, the journalist said to GMS: “Yes, striker will be one of the positions to keep an eye on for Manchester United because, honestly, from what I’m told, the original plan was to invest on a big striker in summer 2023.”

Who could United sign?

According to The Telegraph, United were already planning for life without Ronaldo before his controversial interview with Morgan.

The outlet states that they are keeping tabs on Juventus’ Dusan Vlahovic, who would be an incredible signing for them.

The Serbian has quickly become one of the best strikers in the world, scoring 29 goals last season and seven in the current campaign so far.

Which year did Wayne Rooney leave Manchester United?

With Vlahovic being arguably Juventus’ most important player right now, though, signing the 22-year-old is unlikely to be an easy task.

The same Telegraph report also claims that the Premier League side have interest in Red Bull Salzburg’s Benjamin Sesko. However, with Sesko set to join RB Leipzig in 2023, that looks like an even more complicated deal.

Whatever the case, Ronaldo seems to be moving closer and closer to the Old Trafford exit door, meaning Ten Hag will have to bring in someone to replace him.
