MAGA Republicans have unveiled a new nickname for Minnesota Governor Tim Walz: “Tampon Tim.” Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic nominee for president, announced Walz would be her running mate on Tuesday. Last month, he went viral after labeling Donald Trump and his running mate, JD Vance, as “just weird” in an interview —a message that Harris and other Democrats have seized on and amplified ever since.....CLICK HERE TO READ THE FULL ARTICLE>>>

“These guys are creepy and, yes, just weird as hell,” Walz said about the Republican ticket at his first rally with Harris, in Philadelphia on Tuesday. Now, Trump supporters are seeking to paint Walz as “weird” and “radical” with a nickname that references a bill he signed that requires free menstrual products to be stocked in Minnesota school bathrooms.

The law, which went into effect January 1, has language that allows access to menstrual products to transgender students. It states that products such as pads and tampons “must be available to all menstruating students in restrooms regularly used by students in grades 4 to 12.” Republican lawmakers had failed to amend the bill so that it would apply only to girls’ bathrooms.

On Tuesday, Trump campaign spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt blasted Walz over that law. “As a woman, I think there is no greater threat to our health than leaders who support gender transition surgeries for young minors, who support putting tampons in men’s bathrooms in public schools,” Leavitt said on Fox News. “Those are radical policies that Tim Walz supports.”

Later in the day, #TamponTim began trending on X (formerly Twitter), as Trump supporters shared posts using the nickname. Chaya Raichik, whose Libs of TikTok account on X frequently features anti-trans posts, shared a post with Walz’s face and “Tampon Tim” edited onto a box of tampons. The post has received more than 4 million views.

The anonymous MAGA account @catturd2 also shared a post using the nickname, which quickly went viral. But some on social media suggested the nickname is far from the insult MAGA Republicans think it is.

“Every person who has started their period unexpectedly, or had it be heavier than usual, or run out of products mid-day, knows how clutch it is to have free hygiene products in schools,” April Reign wrote on X. “#TamponTim isn’t the “sick burn” republicans think it is.” Elie Mystal wrote: “Wait, the right wing is calling him #TamponTim as a *bad* thing? Putting free tampons in the bathroom is supposed to be *bad*? Okay, GOP, carry on.”

Douglas Lumsden said on X: “The Republicans’ first big swing at Tim Walz: they’re calling him TAMPON TIM! You know, because he put tampons in school bathrooms.”

He continued: “I can remember when Republicans used to regularly win the battle of messages, but they’ve clearly run out of gas...CONTINUE READING>>
