This comes after some Members of Parliament (MPs) from Mount Kenya recently endorsed Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki as the region’s new political leader or “kingpin.” A kingpin is a term used to describe someone who has great influence over a certain area or community.

By endorsing Kindiki, the MPs have signaled that they see him as an important leader in Mount Kenya, possibly overshadowing Gachagua, who is the current Deputy President and also from the same region. This move has caused some tension, as Gachagua was previously considered the key political figure in Mount Kenya.

The Meru Woman Rep’s statement suggests that some leaders feel Gachagua is not being given the respect or recognition he deserves in this political situation. Her message to President Ruto could be a call for unity and better treatment of his deputy, especially when political leadership in Mount Kenya seems to be shifting.

This development adds more complexity to the political landscape in Mount Kenya, as different leaders are competing for influence ahead of future elections.
