If you recall, Ogbonna’s late wife, Abimbola reportedly died in a fire incident in their house in Lekki, Lagos, on October 12, 2022.

The news caused a stir on social media.

It’s said that IVD was arraigned by the Lagos State Government on Monday, March 21, for alleged involuntary manslaughter.

It means the crime of killing someone unintentionally or without having planned to do it.

The prosecuting counsel, Adeshola Bello, told the court that the alleged offence committed goes against Section 229 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015

According to the source, Ogbonna pleaded not guilty before the Lagos State judge, Justice Modupe Nicole-Clay

The defence counsel, Mr Victor Ogunde, SAN, requested for bail for the defendant.

The judge noted that the defendant had been on bail since March 1 and demanded to know the reason for the bail application.

The defence counsel explained that the suit against his client was with a different charge number.

Justice Nicole-Clay adjourned the case till March 30, May 24 and 25, 2023, for the commencement of trial.
