Gumi meets bandits to negotiate for peace in the North.

The duo were killed in airstrikes by the Nigerian Air Force on their camps in forests in Zamfara State.

Reacting to the development, Gumi’s media consultant, Alhaji Tukur Mamu, called on the military to provide proof to backup its claims.

According to him, visits to bombarded forests in Niger State showed that the Communities had nothing to do with banditry and that may be the same with the recent airstrikes in Zamfara.

He claimed that some of the bandits they conversed with disclosed that they often flee into under ground caves on hearing the sound of aircrafts, leaving behind women, children and livestock to be killed.

Stressing that the acclaimed success of the airstrikes was no cause for celebration, he said more dreaded bandits have emerged after the killing of their leaders.

Alhaji Mamu pointed to the killing of Dogo Gide and Buharin Daji to assert his point, stressing that, “The only thing we can celebrate is that if our military succeeds in crushing them all and they cannot.”

Reiterating his principal’s call for amnesty for bandits, he said the Americans after spending 20 years in Afghanistan, dialogued with the Taliban.

Stressing that the President Muhammadu Buhari administration will be unable to end banditry in its remaining 17 months lifespan, he called for the utilization of dialogue as was done by late President Musa Yar Adua with Niger Delta militants.
