However, by midday, the youthful protesters overpowered the individuals parading around the town’s streets with batons.

The youths then marched to an awaiting police van, where they handed over the weapons while insisting they were peaceful.

Photos showed a bundle of batons carefully stored inside the police vehicle as the protesters went about their activities.

The protesters were captured singing and dancing in the streets while chanting slogans against Governor Erick Mutai and the Kenya Kwanza government. Acting inspector general of police Douglas Kanja urged protesters to cooperate with the police to ensure their safety.

Kanja revealed that they received credible intelligence that certain criminal groups had planned to disrupt the intended peaceful demonstrations.
