In a notice issued on Wednesday, July 24, Kenyans contesting the nomination of the 10 submitted names were advised to file their submissions to the National Assembly through an affidavit.

The affidavit should be accompanied by evidence against the nominee in question. Notably, the two sets of documents can be submitted physically to the Clerk of the National Assembly or through email.

“Now therefore, in compliance with Article 118(1)(b) of the Constitution and section 6(9) of the Public Appointments (Parliamentary Approval) Act, 2011, the Clerk of the National Assembly hereby invites members of the public to submit any representations. they may have, by way of written statement on oath (affidavit) with supporting evidence contesting the suitability of any nominee proposed for appointment.

“The representations may be forwarded to the Clerk of the National Assembly, P.O. BOX 41842-00100, Nairobi: hand-delivered to the Office of the Clerk, Main Parliament Buildings, Nairobi, or emailed to cna@parliament.go.ke and appointments.nationalassembly@parliament.go.ke,” read the notice in part.

Further, Kenyans were directed to file their reservations before Wednesday, July 31 at 5 pm. The 10 Cabinet nominees who will be vetted afresh include former CSs who were reappointed by the President. They include; Alice Wahome (Lands), Soipan Tuya (Defence), Aden Duale (Environment), Davis Chirchir (Transport) and Kithure Kindiki (Interior).

The first-time cabinet nominees include Debra Mlongo (Health), Julius Migosi (Education), Andrew Muhia (Agriculture), Eric Muriithi (Water) and Margaret Nyambura (ICT).

The receiving of the memorandum is part of the vetting process of the nominees. A report will be tabled in the August House within the next 28 days on the suitability of the candidates before a vote is taken.
