The first prosecution witness, Kennedy Kipruto co-director of African Diatomite company which supplied Kensil-C chemical to SBL Innovate Limited took the stand to explain how Kensil-C chemical was used in the manufacture of the fake fertilizer.
According to the Director, Kensil-C is a byproduct of diatomite which is capable of changing soil structure, aeration and retention of water.
He said that among their clients who buy the Kensil-C include companies and individual farmers who have issues in their farms and soil PH.
However, the director informed Court that Kensil-C is not fertilizer.
In the case, Josiah Kariuki and his two company the director of Fifty One Capital and SBL Innovate Manufacturers Limited together with former National Cereal and Produce Board(NCPB) officials Joseph Muna Kimote, John Kiplangat and John Mbaya were charge in May with supply of ksh 209 million fake subsidized fertilizer.
