During a gathering on Sunday, the group including Musyoka and DAP-K party leader Eugene Walalwa expressed their intention to prepare for the 2027 elections independently of Odinga’s involvement.

The faction has made it clear that despite Odinga’s close collaboration with President William Ruto in the broad-based administration, Azimio will neither disband nor join the government.

Jubilee Secretary-General Jeremiah Kioni declared that Raila has decided to take a position at the African Union and that they wish him well in his endeavours.

Kioni reiterated that their group would not be working with Raila in this capacity. He emphasized that they are committed to maintaining solidarity with the Kenyan people to safeguard the nation’s interests.

While acknowledging that some opposition figures have aligned themselves with the Kenya Kwanza government, Kioni asserted that those allied with Musyoka would maintain their position. Musyoka himself has reaffirmed Azimio’s resolve and clarity of purpose, dismissing any notion that the coalition faced dilemmas.

He stated emphatically, “Others claim we’re at a crossroads, but let’s be clear – we’re not softening our stance. We’ve been here before, and we know our path forward. We want to reassure Kenyans that we stand with them.”

The leaders addressed the media in Embu before attending a church service in Kagio, Kirinyaga County. Wamalwa revealed that while Azimio has permitted certain leaders to collaborate with the government, the majority will continue to operate under Musyoka’s leadership.

He emphasized the importance of maintaining a strong opposition to hold the government accountable and prevent the potential emergence of a dictatorship.
