Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka made the revelation Sunday while in Kiambu County, and further confirmed that the formation of the new political entity has the blessings of former President Uhuru Kenyatta.
“Be part of the next movement ambayo tunaunda. Make no mistake, former President Uhuru Kenyatta is with us, yuko pamoja nasi,” said Kalonzo in what appeared to be an appeal to Mt Kenya residents to embrace the later-to-be-unveiled party
In his charm offensive, the former vice president is also promising the Central Kenya region that Azimio will oppose any plans to oust Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for his position.
The Kalonzo-led group that included Jubilee Party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni and DAP Kenya leader Eugene Wamalwa believes it was time to move on from Azimio after Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s ODM agreed to work with President William Ruto’s administration. Some of Odinga’s allies have been nominated by Ruto to serve in his Cabinet and now only await approval from MPs before they assume their positions.
“Mwenye tumeachiwa sasa na mwenye tunatembea na yeye because there must be an alternative to the things that are happening in this country is Kalonzo. Sisi Wakazi wa eneo hili (la Mt Kenya) tufungue macho. Sisi tukitembea na Kalonzo tunaomba Mungu mapenzi yake yafanyike,” said Jeremiah Kioni of Jubilee Party
