Speaking on Wednesday, the elders issued a strong warning to the rioting Gen Z, saying plans to sabotage and kick out President Ruto out of power will not be tolerated.

The elders warned that the silence of the Kalenjin community should not be taken as a weakness. Led by the chairman of Got-ab-Miyoot (Kalenjin elders’ umbrella body) Benjamin Kitur, the elders warned that Ruto was democratically elected into office and any attempts to subvert the will of the people will not be tolerated.

they said the youths were being used by some individuals to disturb and cause turbulence in the country, eventually overthrowing Ruto’s government.

“We are warning our grandchildren against being used by anybody. We want to tell them that this trick will not work and that such actions to overthrow government will not be taken lightly,” warned Kitur.

He challenged the youths to use alternative ways apart from violent protests to air their grievances, adding that the people of Sudan were misused in the same way to overthrow their government.
