Lazio 3-1 Inter Milan: Lazio won back-to-back home games against Inter Milan for the first time since 2014, triumphing 3-1 at the Stadio Olimpico.
Maurizio Sarri’s men had conceded the first goal in four of their previous six Serie A games, and the early signs were ominous, with Inter dominating the ball.
Despite being in command, the Nerazzurri rarely threatened Ivan Provedel in the Lazio goal, as the Italian shot-stopper kept his place over Luis Maximiano, who had served his suspension after a red card on his debut.
Simone Inzaghi appeared increasingly agitated on the sidelines, and for good reason, as Lazio took the lead before the break. Sergej Milinkovic-Savic floated a beautiful cross into the box, finding Felipe Anderson in space between Alessandro Bastoni and Federico Dimarco, allowing the Brazilian to nod home.
Inter would have to respond after the break, and Inzaghi’s side did so within six minutes of the restart. Denzel Dumfries won the second ball, flicking the ball towards Lautaro Martinez to prod home after the hosts failed to deal with Dimarco’s delivery into the box.
Inter were on top, and Dumfries almost completed the comeback moments later with a close-range header at the back post, but Provedel was on hand to save.
Sarri turned to his bench, bringing in Spanish duo Luis Alberto and Pedro. The changes gave Lazio an immediate boost, and the pair combined for a truly spectacular goal to reclaim the lead.
Pedro passed the ball to Alberto on the edge of the box, and the playmaker unleashed a first-time cannon that flew into the top corner, leaving Handanovic helpless.
