It is no secret in the media that Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel is looking to get his transfer business started this summer – and is in desperate need of adding to that back-line
With a number of departures already from the club and a few more players linked with exits – the Blues boss knows that he needs to bring some fresh meat to the club – and that has led to reports they are keen on Jones
The youngster, who is a natural winger, was pushed back when Chris Wilder joined the club and became one of the top performers in the Championship – where he registered nine assists, and scored once, with Boro missing out on the play-off places.
It has been claimed in the media over the past few weeks that Chelsea have already made contact with Boro about a possible transfer deal – with the likes of Man United and Tottenham also in the chase for a deal.
However – amid all the speculation Carlton Palmer reckons Jones should stay put as he won’t get regular playing time at any of the aforementioned clubs.
He said: “The clubs that he’s been linked with are fantastic football clubs, but he will not be playing and there’s no point going there.
“If the deal can be done, that he goes and then he comes back on loan to Middlesbrough, yeah, then do a deal like that, but he needs he needs to play.”
Jones is a very talented lad that is making all the right noises in the game – so if he did move to a club like Chelsea – his game time would diminish
It would be a massive move for the lad – but right now – his career is heading in the right direction and a big move could scupper that
